3 min read
Jobistas is seeking on behalf of its client—a unique hospitality and learning ecosystem in Corfu, primarily focused on meditation, yoga, nature reconnection, and well-being—a Finance Director who is exceptionally accurate, detail-oriented, and hands-on, while also capable of acting as a senior strategic partner to the Founder and leadership team.
Role Overview
This is not a theoretical finance role. It is a deeply practical, day-to-day leadership position embedded in real operations on the ground. Operating within an “impact-first” framework and currently transitioning into a formal non-profit foundation structure, our client views hospitality, retreats, and cultural gatherings not as profit-maximizing ventures, but as sustainable means to fund education, ecological regeneration, and community initiatives.
As the Finance Director, you will enjoy meaningful autonomy and decision-making power, helping co-develop the organization’s mid-to-long-term financial and business vision in Corfu and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Accuracy & Day-to-Day Control: Oversee daily financial operations across all activities. Ensure accurate bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, tax compliance, and maintain audit-ready records in close collaboration with external accountants and advisors.
- Cash Flow, Budgets & Operational Clarity: Build and manage annual budgets and multi-year forecasts across hospitality, food & beverage, educational retreats, property maintenance, and large-scale gatherings. Track actuals vs. budget and prepare clear financial dashboards for leadership.
- Structural Transition & Compliance: Support the financial and legal setup of the future non-profit foundation. Ensure the correct allocation and separation of funds across diverse activities, maintaining compliance with Greek regulations and emerging governance requirements.
- Strategic Planning & Sustainability: Design financial systems that allow educational and hospitality revenues to sustainably fund nature conservation, animal sanctuaries, and community projects. Support long-term planning, infrastructure growth, and financial modeling for future regional/international scaling.
- Transparency & Accountability: Prepare clear financial reporting for leadership, partners, donors, and governance bodies. Help nurture a culture of transparency, openness, and trust.
Requirements
- Professional Background: 7-10+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or financial operations.
- Industry Fit: Prior experience in hospitality, property operations, retreats, events, or education is a strong plus. Exposure to impact-led organizations, foundations, or mission-driven ventures is highly preferred.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of Greek accounting, tax, and legal frameworks is mandatory.
- Languages: Fluency in Greek and English (both written and spoken) is required.
- Location & Presence: Based in Greece, with a strong preference for presence in Corfu, particularly during the active season.
- Key Traits: Grounded, execution-focused, and comfortable navigating operational complexity. You are a calm leader under seasonal pressure, motivated by purpose and the chance to build a meaningful, long-term legacy.
